NEWSLETTER FOR AUTUMN TERM 2017

Dear Parents/Carers

A warm welcome to you all at the start of a “new year“ with the Diana Griffiths School of Dance. I hope you have all had a lovely summer break and the children are refreshed for the start of term.
Well done to everyone who took part in “A Celebration of Dance…Footsteps of Jane Eyre” on July 1st at Concord College. I am sure you will agree that the children’s performance was excellent and I would like to add how thrilled we all were with the children’s wonderful behaviour throughout the day! We raised a brilliant £1,000 for Hope House, thanks to the children’s hard work, my wonderful and inspired teachers, Flo, all the backstage and front of house helpers, and as always your tremendous support.

Thank you for attending our end of term prize giving and cheque presentation to Hope House area fundraiser Sarah Johnson. This event is becoming really popular and well-attended—thank you! Commendations were awarded to every member who took part at Concord. In addition there were special awards for Improvement (Amelia Hall and Kaysha Brander), Dance Awards (Rosie Hickman and Josie Allsop), Drama Awards (Georgia Simcock and Emily Lloyd) and Commitment Awards were presented to the Year 11s (Jess Halliday, Annabel Griffiths, Caitlin Davies and Gemma Francis).

Our Summer Theatre School at Condover Primary School was a great success. Four days of dance, drama, musical theatre and creativity expertly led by Ruth Seager and Vikki Leech and culminating in a “sharing” of some excellent work which was greatly enjoyed! I know Vikki and Ruth are keen to offer another similar event next summer.

There are no changes to our teaching staff this term. However, we have introduced an additional ballet class and an exciting new dance class for boys! Please refer to our Autumn timetables. There are a few changes at Dorrington on Saturdays – I dearly hope that these will work for you all!

As always do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions concerning your child / children … your feedback is important to me. Thank you for your continuing support and I look forward to an enjoyable and successful Autumn Term.

Yours

Cathy
